Darkness swirled in the clouds above
Ions supercharged in the air below
The forces of darkness covered the land
An evil blight continuing to grow
.
The lands blackened and turned to dust
The waters gasped for liquid breath
The plants withered and blew away
As the land was gripped by Death
In the last throes of the land came a man
From yon hill and dale where birds sing
Grass waves, water flows, happiness abounds
Children play and peals of laughter ring
.
This shining paladin of right came ready to fight
He looked, and he saw, and he cried
The pain and madness surged through him
As he fell on his knees and felt the evil tide
His horse shrieked in terror
His countenance blanched and turned pale
He clutched his heart and gasped
When the prince saw the horrors unveiled
.
A hideous, foul stench came rolling down
Assailing the senses, sending him reeling
He caught his breath and beat his breast
And said a small prayer to regain his feeling
The shiny paladin of right donned his visor
Spurred on his horse, and rode into battle
Against an enemy unseen and vile
That was leeching the land and killing the cattle
.
Bellowing his war cry, he waved his sword
Calling it Justice and God's Will
The mighty hooves of his mighty steed
Charged towards the evil, bent to kill
A beast invisibly hideous, thrashing tentacles
The prince of Goodness met his foe
A monolithic living pyramid of evil
And the awakened One Eye of Woe!
.
The Sword of Victory plunged and cut
The Paladin whirled in the web of death
Slashing tentacles, oozing gore
The Unnamed Evil soon gasping for breath
A hideous roar shook the blackened ground
The lurching monstrosity shimmered and died
Wounded to the quick by the Sword of Truth
And the bravery of the Foe of Lies!
.
Exhausted, yet victorious rode away the man
From yon hill and dale where birds sing
Grass waves, water flows, happiness abounds
Children play and peals of laughter ring
And behind him the evil tide slackened
Rains replenished the parched earth
The birds came and made their nests
As the continent went through a rebirth
.
The Paladin passed away and was interred below
But others came, and cared, and staved off the blight
Each one in their way donning the armour of love
And bravely wielding the Sword of Right!
