The darkest hour of my night, although the moon was shining bright
and all was bathed in sweet starlight,
My heart ached liked an open wound, my soul cried sharply out of tune
as tears slipped slowly- hot as noon
Down my face... into my hair... when suddenly, and from nowhere
the Truth spoke softly in my ear
with boundless love- then disappeared.
My heart bled freely through the night, anguished tears obscuring
sight... my soul crept slowly towards the light
Until all strength was gone, and then, one last time it spoke again.
But stayed with me, as deep inside my sweetest dream gave up-
then died.
And though I asked to know just why, I heard only a soft, sad sigh Repeating it could never be... You'd never fall in love with me..
